STOP, FIRE, SPRITE, ignition ignited,
the first stage of BRUCE, the first prototype of
rockets for free men, BRUCE started streaming —
the night sky lit up with sparks, fire, streamers

BRUCE, for his will, for his job, for his filthy
slop-shod (this body, of flesh and blood) melted —
some say that the blame goes to A.D. HALDANE, the
first person ever (sold) rockets (built) strangers

rockets, realize, have been round for dog’s eyes,
for millions of years, but they haven’t yet tried
boats (put them), poles, elastic (stretch) clothes,
common cats, castles, rubber gloves, stoves

the market to slap a rocket (or half of,
or twelve, maybe, even, it’s up to the staff)
on buildings, on large (XX) steam (river) barges,
send to the stratosphere — BOY, what a market

no-one knows why, cause these things never fly,
they crash into cities, and airports, or highways,
explode and release a gas that’s at least
ten times more toxic than arsenic (easily)

BRUCE, a departure for managing partners
(LLC HALDANE, his horse and his cart) that
history made (would, this) absolute stranger
pulled off the street (it’s kidnapping related)

before we delve into the ethics of killing
a randomly genned up stranger with filling
six tons (with, up) of aircraft fuel, rubber,
a whole lot of newts, and an explosive cucumber

varied, they’re bold, they’re made out of old
poly swim trunks and aluminum bolts,
but why would you think that HALDANE, A.D.
for all his success would strangers up-string

HALDANE was one of a million ex-plumbers
the boom in the rocketry industry stumbled
when plumbing dried up on account of the bug
that people stopped pooping (a DISASTER, that’s what)
